Another season of Oregon high school football is right around the corner. From powerhouse programs to ambitious upstarts, here are the top 25 teams in the Beaver State according to Massey.

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

1. West Linn Lions

The Lions avenged their only loss last season by defeating Lake Oswego in the Oregon high school football Class 6A Open state championship game. Four-star cornerback Josiah Molden and West Linn will start their title defense against Sherwood on September 12.

2. Sheldon Irish

While the Irish won their first ten games, they lost to West Linn in the Oregon high school football Class 6A Open state semifinals by one score. Despite that outcome, Sheldon is trending up after improving from a 6-4 record in 2023-24. Before linebacker Kawai Chamberlin and the Irish get another shot at the championship, they must do well in their preliminary games, starting with their September 5 game against Lake Oswego.

3. Lake Oswego Lakers

The Lakers entered the Oregon high school football Class 6A Open state championship game with an 11-0 record. Unfortunately, West Linn thwarted their title hopes and ended their chances of having a perfect season. Lake Oswego would like to exact revenge when they face West Linn again on October 17. However, before reaching that showdown, players like running back LaMarcus Bell and quarterback Hudson Kurland must lead the Lakers in their August 29 season opener against South Medford.

4. Central Catholic Rams

The Rams won their first 11 games before losing to Lake Oswego in the Oregon high school football Class 6A state semifinals. Central Catholic would like to regain the state title they’ve won in 2023-24, and the road to that goal starts with their season opener against California’s Central Catholic Raiders on September 5. Tight end Andreas Nicolaidis, running back Killian Sombe, and linebacker Donnie Vercher will be leading the charge for the Rams in 2025-26.

5. Tualatin Timberwolves

After winning their first four games, the Timberwolves lost four of their next six, including their Oregon high school football Class 6A Open first-round encounter against Mountainside. Tualatin will commence its 2025-26 Oregon high school football season against Clackamas on August 29.
