Cedar Hill (Texas) football head coach Nick Ward has been placed on leave, according to a report by The Dallas Morning News’ Greg Riddle.

Per the report, offensive coordinator Marcus Richardson has resigned and “documents have been sent to the UIL and 11-6A district executive committee to review for a possible investigation.”

Ward is wrapping up his third year as the head coach of Cedar Hill. He was hired in February of 2023 and now holds a 17-18 record. The Longhorns went 6-5 this fall, losing in the first round of the 6A Division II playoffs to Harker Heights.

In 2023, Ward’s first season at the helm, Cedar Hill went 8-6. The Longhorns took a step back last fall, winning just three games. They opened the 2025 season at 5-1, but dropped four of their final five games.

Ward replaced Carlos Lynn, who led the Longhorns for six seasons. Ward was previously on Lynn’s staff when Cedar Hill won 12 games and made it to the state title game in 2020.

The Seagoville alum played for years for the Miami Hurricanes. He then had a lengthy Arena Football League career before transitioning to coaching in the Lone Star State. He’s also spent time at North Mesquite and Midlothian.
