Report: Teddy Bridgewater suspended by Miami Northwestern for 2025 season

According to a report by USA Today’s Jon Santucci, former Miami Northwestern head coach Teddy Bridgewater has been suspended by the school for the 2025-26 school year. The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) reportedly approved the suspension.

In Santucci’s report, the Bulls were docked a $2,500 penalty fine by the FHSAA, of which $2,250 can be returned to Miami Northwestern if there are no other violations.

Bridgewater had informed Miami Northwestern players back in early August that he was pursuing a return to the NFL. The Bulls’ alum ended up signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is currently the team’s backup.

Bridgewater had stepped away from the team three weeks after he was suspended by Northwestern due to the allegations of providing impermissible benefits to his players. Now, the FHSAA has deemed those allegations as enough to suspended Bridgewater for the entire 2025-26 school year.

The Bulls are currently 1-1 on the season and are scheduled to face Miami Norland (2-1) tonight at Traz Powell Stadium.

It’s been a whirlwind last 20 months for Bridgewater. Bridgewater made an immediate impact for his alma mater, leading Northwestern to its first state championship since 2019. The Bulls finished the 2024 season ranked No. 6 in Florida, according to the Rivals Composite High School Team Rankings.
