The high school football season around the country has wrapped up and with that comes honors for coaches and players from the 2025 season. One state out of the Midwest region that is starting to produce some impressive talent and teams from around the country is Indiana high school football.

The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) state finals ended a few weeks ago and we decided to get right to it when it comes to end of the year honors.

We continue into the Hoosier State of Indiana as Rivals looked through the season and selected award nominees from this past season. Who were the best players for the 2025 Indiana high school football season, though?

Rivals give you the Indiana high school football honorees for the 2025 season.

Player of the Year: Myles McLaughlin, ATH, Knox Community

The Knox Community quarterback Myles McLaughlin was setting Indiana high school football records all season long and national ones as well. This past 2025 season for the Redskins, McLaughlin set two national rushing records in touchdowns (71) and yards (4,846) for a single season. McLaughlin is the Hoosier State’s most prolific rusher ever, breaking the all-time record previously held by Palestine’s Charlie Spegal. McLaughlin is also just the fifth player in high school football history to reach 11,000 career rushing yards and finishing at 11,837 for his career. Without a shadow of a doubt, McLaughlin had the most impressive season of all-time when it came to Indiana high school football as the athlete came just short of breaking NFL’er Derrick Henry‘s national record for rushing yards in a career.

Offensive Player of the Year: Jett Goldsberry, ATH, Heritage Hills

It’s hard to underscore the meaning of Jett Goldsberry to Heritage Hills’ overall success during his time with the football program. The Purdue signee was all over the field for the Patriots, helping lift the team to a 12-2 record and a deep playoff run in the IHSAA Class 4A. Goldsberry, who will play safety at the next level, had multiple roles at Heritage Hills this past season as the senior on offense compiled 3,372 all-purpose yards and 56 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Goldsberry totaled 45 tackles, 12 for a loss, four sacks, three forced fumbles, three pass breakups and an interception. No matter what Goldsberry needed to do for the Patriots, the senior did and especially on the offensive side.

Defensive Player of the Year: Keenan Mowery-Shields, LB, South Putnam

When it came to defensive players tracking down ball carriers, there was none better than doing so then South Putnam’s Keenan Mowery-Shields this past 2025 Indiana high school football season. Mowery-Shields was as good as they come when needed to make a tackle in the state as the junior 6-foot-3, 235-pound backer totaled an eye-popping 251 tackles. The junior had nearly 100 tackles more than the next closest player and the numbers surely stand out on a national level. Mowery-Shields finished with the 251 takedowns, 143 solo with 20 going for a loss and 5.5 sacks. It’s hard to ignore the kind of season Mowery-Shields had and to think, the linebacker has one more season to go.

Coach of the Year: Jason Hart, Brownsburg

It took Jason Hart nearly a decade himself to lead the Brownsburg Bulldogs to their first state in nearly 40 years, about the same amount of time he’s been coaching high school football. This season was always about repeating and they did so as Hart guided the club to a thrilling, 38-31, win over Westfield for the IHSAA Class 6A state championship. Unbeaten at 14-0, Hart has led the team now to national prominence as they finished inside of the Top 25 high school football rankings at No. 16 via the Massey Ratings. Now with an all-time record of 96-19 as a coach, Hart has begun to oversee one of the top high school football programs in the Midwest.
