Senior QB Darryon Jones transfers to Venice (Fla.)

The high school football season is already underway, but Venice (Fla.) High is still bringing in a new face at a key position.
On Monday, Vinnie Portell of the Sarasota Herald Tribune reported that senior quarterback Darryon Jones has transferred in from Chaminade-Madonna Prep and will be eligible for the Indians’ next game on Friday against Port Charlotte.
This summer, Jones transferred to Chaminade-Madonna from Tampa Bay Tech. He’s now made the move to another prevalent Sunshine State program and will finally get his senior campaign going at Venice.
As a junior last season, Jones, a Howard commit, led Tampa Bay Tech to a 9-3 season in Florida’s Class 5A classification. He finished the season completing 92-of-172 passes for 1,558 yards, 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Per MaxPreps, he has 48 career touchdowns to his name, 40 of which have come through the air.
