Son of Josh Howard making a name in the Nike EYBL

Josh Howard continues to guide the next generation of basketball players at the University of North Texas in Dallas. As he enters his sixth season coaching the Trailblazers, his son is starting to make a name for himself.
Bryson Howard was flying under the radar until his recent performance in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. Through three games, he averaged 20.9 points on 52.8 percent shooting. He had 31 points against the EYBL’s Team Melo, his third game scoring at least 31 points this spring. Likewise, the younger Howard has a league-leading 5.6 rebounds per game in Pro Skills.
These performances have increased the attention toward Josh Howard’s son, leading to a rise in the Class of 2026 rankings. He’s currently 215th among high school basketball seniors in the nation and 18th best in Texas. While he’s currently a three-star prospect with an 83.34 On3 Industry Rating, those credentials could go up with an explosive year with Heritage High School.
During his junior year with the Coyotes, Bryson Howard averaged 17.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and two steals per game. His contributions helped Heritage reach the Texas high school basketball Class 5A Division 1 state semifinals.

However, with the sudden surge in his performances, the younger Howard racked several offers from prestigious college basketball programs. This month, he fielded interest from Tennessee, Texas A & M, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Oklahoma, and Houston, among others.
Before starting his coaching career, Howard played ten seasons in the NBA. He played the longest with the Dallas Mavericks, the team that selected him in the first round of the 2003 NBA Draft.
It was with the Mavericks when Howard earned an All-Rookie Second Team nod and his lone All-Star appearance in 2007. After his stint with the Mavericks, Josh Howard also played for the Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
