Sources: Corner Canyon, St. Frances Academy set to meet in postseason matchup

With the Massey Ratings‘ No. 7 nationally ranked Corner Canyon fresh off a 35-20 victory over Lone Peak for Utah’s Class 6A state championship on Thursday night, rumors have started to fly about a potential matchup between the Chargers and one of the nation’s top high school football programs in
St. Frances Academy (Md.).

Per sources, the Chargers are set to meet the Panthers in a massive national high school football postseason matchup with a major distribution partner in line for the contest.

When Rivals spoke to St. Frances Academy head coach Messay Hailemariam back on Nov. 7 when IMG Academy called off the matchup with the Panthers, he did not rule out the possibility of his team facing one more opponent this 2025 season. Hailemariam stated that his team would continue preparing for a postseason bowl game, despite the disappointment of not having his team face rival IMG Academy.

“We’ll wait and see it’s so early to figure that out at this point,” Hailemariam said. “You know, I’m going to try to just keep my guys practicing and prepping like they are prepping for a bowl game, but that’s how hungry my players are, even though they’ve committed to colleges. They do it the right way. They’ve been raised the right way, and that’s football. That’s competition. That’s amateur sports. It’s for the pureness of playing, and then putting what you’ve done all year on the line to see if you’re capable of calling yourself a champion.”
