St. Joseph Regional (N.J.) stuns No. 14 Bergen Catholic

St. Joseph Regional (N.J.) a couple weeks ago nearly knocked off New Jersey’s No. 1 ranked team, Don Bosco Prep, but ended up falling in a 17-14 decision. Saturday afternoon against No. 14 nationally ranked Bergen Catholic, the Green Knights wouldn’t miss their chance for an upset.
In overtime, St. Joseph Regional Augie Hoffmann rolled the dice and went for two and the win, guiding his team to a thrilling, 43-42 victory over Bergen Catholic.
Both teams were tied up at 7-7 after one quarter, but it would be the second priod where things unraveled for the Crusaders. The Green Knights would score 21 unanswered points, highlighted by a 40-yard touchdown pass from Mason Geis to David Forster.
At one point, Bergen Catholic trailed 35-14 in the second half, but the Crusaders would not go down quietly in attempting an improbable comeback.
