THE VILLAGES, Fla.- For the first time in FHS7v7 tournament history, a program can stake the claim of winning four state titles. That very team resides not too far away from where the tournament was being held.

Ocala Vanguard notched its fourth state championship in a dominating 39-6 victory over Florida State High on Saturday afternoon at The Villages Charter School

“Every time we play good, Vanguard football, we play great football. That’s what it’s all about,” Vanguard head coach Edwin Farmer said. “We got the guys that can really change the game quickly. We just got to make sure they’re consistent. We continue being consistent. One thing about 7-on-7, I love that they get you better for the season.”

The Knights didn’t just own the passing portion, but also took the Battle Lines linemen challenge as well among a field of over a dozen teams.

On the Sunshine State Athletic Conference portion of the 7-on-7 tournament, Lake Highland Prep narrowly edged out Masters Academy Vero, 24-19.

“This is great work,” Lake Highland Prep head coach Ben Bullock said. “This is just going to help us continue to process from spring game to this, to then we get into a little more workouts, then we start July 28th and trying to make a run at it like we have in the past.”

Here are some of the individual standouts from Day 2 at The Villages Charter School:

Day 2 standouts from June 21, 2025

Terrance Lewis, QB, Ocala Vanguard

Every time out at the FHS7v7, Lewis improve each tourney and he saved his best for last in the championship against Florida State High. Lewis has an offer from Arkansas State and should see more line up very soon.

James Bethea, ATH, Ocala Vanguard

One of the state’s top rising prospects was on fully display once again for the Knights, posing as a problem for would-be defenders all morning, afternoon long.

Jakobe Blackwood, DB, Fort Pierce Central

Not many defensive backs were blanketing receivers the way Blackwood was for the Cobras. Blackwood’s play helped Fort Pierce Central reach the Elite Eight round at the tournament.

Marquan Burgess, DB, Fort Pierce Central

Joining Blackwood in the defensive backfield was Burgess, who was quietly making a name for himself all throughout the tournament. Proved to make a nice duo with the aforementioned Blackwood.

Armani McFarland, QB, Belleview

The Rattlers 2027 signal caller was whipping the rock around nicely on Saturday, making him one of the more impressive quarterbacks on Day 2 of the FHS7v7.

Tripp Brown, TE, Plant

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end had a strong weekend coming off being named to UF’s All-Tournament team recently.

Dillon Rose-Bailey, QB, Plant

Rose-Bailey had a solid day for the Panthers throwing the ball among a rotation of three quarterbacks. The 2026 passer’s most recent offer came from Shorter University earlier this month.

Andrew Chung, QB, West Orange

Yup, we have Chung back on this list and for plenty of reasons. The Class of 2028 prospect continued to shine despite his team getting knocked out earlier than expected. Nonetheless, Chung proved over the two days why he’s going to be one of the state’s better sophomore passers this fall.

Jayden Ammons, WR, West Orange

On the receiving end of many Chung passes was Ammons, who had a solid weekend overall at The Villages.

Cowhey Cannon, QB, FSU High

Another strong day for Cannon as the ’26 passer led Florida State High to the state title game of the FHS7v7. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound passer showed poise from the pocket and touch on his passes.

Jaylen Lurry, WR, FSU High

The Seminoles might’ve surprised some folks on the offensive end, but when you have guys like Cannon and Lurry, it’s easy to see how the team reached the state championship final.

Tripp Keller, S, Tampa Jesuit

The Tigers’ safety was superb both days, but really showed out on Day 2. Keller the day after the tourney picked up an offer from the University of Miami (FL).

Aidan Alexander, QB, Tampa Jesuit

Just a 2029, Alexander stepped in very nicely for Will Griffin on both days. Alexander was a quarterback that folks should keep an eye on once he gets the opportunity to start post-Griffin.

Mikey Vernon, WR, Tampa Jesuit

Vernon has backed up his strong spring performance against Lakeland with a consistent summer thus far in 7-on-7’s. The wide receiver was Jesuit’s top pass catcher on both days of the FHS7v7.

Jeysen Williams, QB, Sanford Seminole

We bring back Mr. Williams onto the list after he guided the Seminoles to the Final four round of the tournament. After seeing some playing time last season, Williams looks to be a passer to watch for out of Central Florida.

Justin Creech, S, Sanford Seminole

Seminole head coach Karl Calhoun was quick to point out the play of Creech, who had himself one of the better couple days of play when it came to safeties.

Michael Pyne, QB, Alonso

When it came to the looks test, Pyne passed with flying colors. Pyne was put on the move aplenty during the tournament, showing off his big arm on the run.

William Matthews, WR, Alonso

It was another day at the office for Matthews, who continued to look like a wide receiver that could be poised for a huge fall season with Pyne throwing him the ball.

Cru Slocum, QB, Lakeland Victory Christian

The 2027 quarterback on the second day really stood out and standing at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, has the ideal frame to add some size. There’s little doubt when it came to Slocum’s arm talent as he checked off all the boxes throwing wise.

Will Wankelman, QB, Lake Highland Prep

Wankelman heads into his senior season with a little bit more steam after a solid showing in the SSAC state championship win over Masters Academy Vero.
