Though high school football is still stealing all of the spotlight when it comes to the prep scene, one major boys basketball game drew the interest of a couple top ESPN personalities to come check out.

According to a post by SLAM HS Hoops, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith and Marcus Spears went and checked out the national high school boys basketball matchup between No. 1 ranked Montverde Academy and Southeastern Prep this past Friday. The Falcons ended up winning the contest handily in a 82-57 victory, with 2027 five-star forward C.J. Rosser leading the way with a game-high 21 points.

When it comes to checking out an elite Florida high school boys basketball matchup, Smith picked one of the best in the early season slate of games. Southeastern Prep features several of the country’s top players aside from Rosser, including five-star center Obinna Ekezie Jr., four-star point guard Beckham Black and four-star small forward Griffin Starks.

Montverde Academy is a team in a little bit of a transition as they hired Steve Turner as the program’s new head coach, taking over for Kevin Boyle, who left Montverde Academy to take the same position at SPIRE Academy in Ohio. Turner owns an overall record of 497-176 (.738 win percentage) over the course of 26 seasons at Gonzaga.
