After beating Mexico by 73 points, Team USA went to 2-0 in the FIBA U16 AmeriCup 2025 after a 111-54 demolition of the Dominican Republic. In addition to remaining unblemished in this year’s tournament, the victory extended the United States’ AmeriCup winning streak to 45-0.

The third quarter is an anomaly because the Americans scored only 18 points. However, they can afford to put their foot off the gas pedal after a 64-28 halftime score. Team USA split those first-half points evenly in the first two quarters while limiting the Dominicans to only eight points in the first ten minutes.

The Americans led wire-to-wire with their biggest advantage at 59 points. They shot 55 percent from the field, including 67.2 percent from two-point range. Team USA also dominated in points off turnovers (40-8), fast break points (32-1), and points in the paint (72-26).

Northern Nash High School’s Clarence Rosser Jr. led all scorers with 17 points, with ten rebounds and three blocks. Coatesville High School’s Colton Hiller contributed 16 points, four rebounds, and two steals, while Nasir Anderson (Norcross) and Anthony Williams (Dutchtown) finished with 14 points each. Anderson added five steals and six assists.

Meanwhile, Mason Collins from Tatnall School added 13 points to the Team USA blowout. Madison-Ridgeland Academy’s Erick Dampier Jr. had 12 points and eight rebounds, and Brentwood’s Shalen Sheppard finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Marcus Spears Jr. (Dynamic Prep), Jordan Page (Broughton Magnet), and Kameron Mercer (Huntington Prep) combined for 14 points. Finally, Beckham Black (Duncanville) didn’t score but had ten assists and four steals. Pace Academy’s Bentley Lusakueno did not play.

Jayden Nuñez (12 points) and Erick Dominguez (10) were the only Dominicans in double digits.  Team USA will go for a sweep in Group A when they face Argentina on June 5. Winning that game makes them the top seed as they enter the FIBA U16 AmeriCup 2025 quarterfinals against either Venezuela or Brazil.
