Team USA dominates Mexico to open FIBA U16 AmeriCup 2025

A group of high school basketball standouts powered Team USA to a dominating start to the FIBA U16 AmeriCup 2025. They defeated Mexico, 123-50, in a game wherein six American players scored in double-digits. The victory also gives them two points that put them on top of the Group A standings.
The host team put up a fight, leading to only a ten-point USA lead after the first quarter. However, a 31-8 blast in quarter number two sealed the game for good. Team USA finished the game with three consecutive 30-point quarters while limiting the Mexicans to 37.
The American high school basketball phenoms converted 59 percent of their field goals, including an impressive 76.4 percent from the two-point area. Likewise, the Scott Fitch-coached squad was +28 in rebounds (58-30), +26 in assists (34-8), and +7 in steals (19-12).
Meanwhile, Team USA turned the Mexican’s 33 turnovers into 49 points. The Americans also maximized their size by scoring 76 points in the paint and 35 fast break points. They were also relentless in scoring as the bench had a 57-17 scoring advantage.
Broughton High School’s Jordan Page led all scores with 25 points on 83 percent shooting (10 of 12). He added three rebounds and one assist in 15 playing minutes. Dynamic Prep’s Marcus Spears Jr. contributed 15 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks.

Coatesville High School’s Colton Hiller, Huntington Prep’s Kameron Mercer, Dutchdown High School’s Anthony Williams, and Northern Nash High School’s Clarence Rosser Jr. had 13 points apiece.
Nasir Anderson (Norcoss), Shalen Sheppard (Brentwood), and Beckham Black (Duncanville) ran the offense, finishing with 18 total assists. Madison-Ridgeland Academy’s Erick Dampier Jr. finished with six points, while Pace Academy’s Bentley Lusakueno had one block in two minutes.
After this game, Team USA will face the Dominican Republic on June 4. They will finish group play against Argentina the following day.
