Tennessee High School Football: Baylor School beats Brentwood Academy for 3A-DII title
Trailing for most of the second half, Baylor School (Tenn.) needed to make a play in the final minutes in order to upend a undefeated Brentwood Academy team on Thursday night in the BlueCross Bowl TSSAA Class 3A, Division II state championship at Finley Stadium.
In order for the Red Raiders to pull off the thrilling 28-24 win, they needed a late touchdown pass from Louisville commit Briggs Cherry to capture the program’s third ever state championship in team history.
What setup the go-ahead touchdown pass from Cherry was a personal foul play on Brentwood Academy a couple plays before after a David Gabriel Georges run. That setup Baylor School first and goal inside of Brentwood Academy’s 10-yard line, setting up Cherry’s scoring throw to tight end Braxton Rein with less than four minutes left in the contest.
The Eagles took a 24-21 lead in the third quarter on a Larry Sanders’ touchdown run as Baylor School had led 21-10 midway through the period.

Gabriel Georges had another huge performance for the Red Raiders as the junior running back ended up rushing for 150 yards on 27 carries in the victory. Unofficially, the Baylor School running back will finish the 2025 season with 1,755 yards, capping what has been a stellar junior campaign.
