In one of Tennessee’s most anticipated high school football games of the weekend, top-ranked Chattanooga Baylor School left little doubt about who the state’s top team is. In a showdown between the No. 1 Red Raiders and No. 2 McCallie School, Baylor jumped out to an early lead and held off a huge rally en route to a 56-35 win.

The two teams met earlier this season, with Baylor pulling out a 38-35 win back in early October. This matchup also marked a postseason rematch from a year ago, when McCallie beat Baylor for the state title.

Offense was the name of the game again Friday night, but the Red Raiders ground attack was a tidal wave that McCallie couldn’t slow down.

Led by David Gabriel Georges, one of the nation’s top running backs, Baylor rushed for more than 400 yards on the night. A five-star prospect in the 2027 class, Gabriel Georges rushed 32 times for 431 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the way.

That included an 84-yarder in the fourth quarter to extend the lead back to three touchdowns and ultimately put this one on ice. According to David Paschall of the Chattanooga Times-Free Press, Gabriel Georges has rushed for more than 1,000 yards across the four games he has played against McCallie in the past two years.

And Baylor needed everything he had. After jumping out to a 28-7 lead and looking completely in control, the Red Raiders were outscored by that same margin as McCallie came back to tie the game at 35-all.

Gabriel Georges added two more touchdowns after that though, helping Baylor to pull away and secure its berth in next weekend’s Division II Class 3A state title game. They’ll face undefeated Brentwood Academy, which rolled past Christ Presbyterian Academy 38-7 on Friday night.
