Tennessee Titans host Diversity Summit for high school football coaches

The Tennessee Titans are reaching out to their community by inviting high school football coaches to a Diversity Coaching Summit, in collaboration with the Minority Coaching Association of Tennessee. More than 25 high school coaches attended the annual summit’s third edition at the Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park.
Those who were present gained valuable wisdom from Titans head coach Brian Callahan, who said, “I know the journey you guys go through. I know what it means to coach high school football, and it really is an important part of the growth of the game of football.”
Meanwhile, Tennessee Titans linebackers coach Frank Bush shared with the attendees, “He was my high school coach. That’s why I first got molded and shaped into being a football player and then started to understand football.”
In addition to the Diversity Coaching Summit, the participants were privileged to attend a portion of the Titans’ minicamp. This experience helped them draw coaching techniques and knowledge that they can impart to their players. In this video, there was even a moment between Titans running back and Tennessee native Tony Pollard hugging Eddie Woods, his former head coach at Melrose High School. Woods now serves as the Tight Ends coach and is in charge of High School Relations at Tennessee State University.

Aside from the Tennessee Titans, other NFL teams have invited high school football coaches to their minicamp. The Denver Broncos had several Colorado high school football coaches observe in camp, with head coach Sean Payton addressing them by paying gratitude to his high school coach.
Likewise, the Washington Commanders made the same gesture of inviting high school coaches within their area to their minicamp practices.
Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans finished the 2024 NFL season, their first under Callahan, with a 3-14 record. While they haven’t been to the playoffs in the last three seasons, they are hoping that 2025 top overall pick Cam Ward can help turn things around.
