The University Interscholastic League (UIL) football state semifinals continues today as teams from the Lone Star State are looking to book their ticket to next week’s state championship games to be held at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium. Arguably the biggest matchup of the dais pits the No. 2 nationally ranked Southlake Carroll Dragons against the red-hot DeSoto Eagles. Both teams bring state championship pedigrees to the table and this tilt features some of the best high school football talent Texas has to offer. We preview the Saturday afternoon matchup between the two Lone Star football giants.

How to Watch DeSoto Eagles vs. Southlake Carroll Dragons in Texas 6A-II state semifinals game

Date: Saturday, Dec. 13
Time: 2 p.m. CT
Location: Dragon Stadium in Southlake, TX
TV Channel: Victory+

DeSoto Players to Watch

WR Boobie Feaster: Best player on the field is arguably the USC signee as Feaster has feasted on secondaries all season long. The senior dynamo has hauled in 88 passes for 1,474 yards and 19 touchdowns.

RB SaRod Baker: There’s probably only a few running backs in the country playing at the level Baker is right now. In last week’s win over Willis, Baker rushed for a school-record 384 yards and scored seven touchdowns.

DL K’Adrian Redmond: The Texas Tech commitment is going to be relied upon to get heavy pressure on Southlake Carroll quarterback Angelo Renda all afternoon long.

QB Legend Howell: We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention DeSoto’s signal caller, right? Howell has progressed throughout the season, with the quarterback throwing for 2,111 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Southlake Carroll Players to Watch

QB Angelo Renda: The Pittsburgh signee has been terrific this season for the Dragons as the quarterback has thrown for 3,984 yards and 41 touchdowns in guiding a very talented Southlake Carroll offensive unit.

WR Brock Boyd: One of the two favorite targets for Renda throughout the season is the Ohio State commitment as Boyd has hauled in 83 catches for 1,387 yards. Expect Boyd to have a major hand in the ball game.

WR Blake Gunter: The other wide receiver Renda looks to other than Boyd is Gunter, who has caught 61 catches for 1,113 yards this season. Expect Gunter to see plenty of targets as DeSoto’s secondary looks to take away Boyd.

OL Luke Wilson: Needing to make sure that Renda is upright and able to throw the rock around the yard is the 6-foot-6, 290-pound Oklahoma commitment. Wilson will need to protect Renda’s blindside all evening against a talented DeSoto front seven.
