Texas high school coach, family missing in catastrophic Texas flooding

According to a KENS5 report, Tivy High School soccer coach Reece Zunker and his family are missing after catastrophic flooding hit Central Texas.
Per the report, Zunker and his family had been vacationing in Hunt, Texas and were reported missing by relatives after attempts to reach them were unsuccessful. Kerr County have confirmed least 24 people are dead while dozens of others, including the Zunkers, remain missing.
Between five to 10 inches of rain have fallen in Central Texas since Thursday, resulting in flash floods around the region. The Guadalupe River crested at 23.4 feet, the third-highest level ever recorded in Kerrville on Friday.
Those in the Kerrsville area have put out pleas to pray for those that remain missing. Tivy head football coach Curtis Neill was one of those that asked for the community to keep the Zunker family in their thoughts.

“The TFND (The Fight Never Dies) community would like to extend an ‘all call’ to pray for all of those affected by the historic flooding today, and a special petition for the Zunker family, who have yet to be brought to safety,” said Neill.
According to Zunker’s LinkedIn, he has been teaching at Kerrville Independent School District since 2012. He was named the KISD Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2024
Zunker initially began his coaching career as a volunteer with Uvalde High School’s football team, per the KENS5 report. After Uvalde, Zunker landed a position at Tivy as the school’s head soccer coach. Zunker has led the Antlers’ boys varsity team, compiling an overall record of 126-93-18 over the last 11 seasons.
