Texas High School Football: Belton head coach Brett Sniffin retiring
Belton (Texas) head football coach Brett Sniffin is retiring after six years at the helm of the program, according to 365 Sports’ David Smoak.
The Tigers went 5-6 this season, losing in the first round of the UIL 5A Division II playoffs. They ranked as the No. 303 team in the Lone Star State this fall, per the Rivals Composite Rankings.
Belton compiled a 37-32 record in six seasons under Sniffin. In 2023, it put together a 10-win campaign, won the district title but lost in the second round of the playoffs. That followed an 8-3 season in 2022. When Sniffin took over in 2020, the Tigers were competing in 6A. They made the move to 5A-D2 in 2022.
Before taking the Belton job, Sniffin was the inaugural head coach of Ridge Point. He spent eight seasons leading the Panthers and went 75-22, won five district titles, had a pair of undefeated seasons and did not miss the playoffs.

This season, Belton got off to a 2-0 start with wins over Hendrickson and Georgetown. It then lost four of its next five games, including a 50-43 thriller that saw Cuero come out on top. It then won back-to-back games again, but finished the year on a two-game skid. Iowa Colony knocked the Tigers out in the first round of the playoffs, winning 54-14.
The Belton offense averaged 29.8 points per game. It surpassed 30 points five times and allowed more than 30 just three times all season. Belton ISD will now find a new head coach for the Tigers’ 2026 season and beyond.
