Texas high school football to be featured on ESPN in August

Watch out Lone Star State, the worldwide leader in sports is coming your way and aiming to feature one of Texas’ most beloved pastimes. ESPN is coming to showcase Texas high school football.
ESPN put out a press release last week regarding a nationwide tour dubbed 50 States in 50 Days that will take them across the United States, visiting each and every state. Each visit on this seven-week initiative, SportsCenter will have live on-site shows spotlighting the state.
When SportsCenter brings the show into Texas, they will be visiting a preseason high school football scrimmage between defending Class 6A, Division I state champion North Crowley Panthers and Euless Trinity Trojans. The practice scrimmage is set to take place on Aug. 14th at 2 p.m. and will be hosted by ESPN’s Hannah Storm that afternoon.
According to the release, it will be the first time in 20 years that ESPN has tackled a cross-country tour of this magnitude. The first of the shows will begin in the nation’s capital of Washington D.C. on June 27th by long time ESPN anchor Scott Van Pelt.
The tour will end under two months later, just a couple days after ESPN visits Texas, on Aug. 16th in Pennsylvania at the Little League World Series.

When it comes down to high school football, there’s very few states that come close to their passion for the sport.
North Crowley took on the Westlake Chaparrals for the Class 6A, Division I state championship and the contest drew over 36,000 people at AT&T Stadium. Comparing that to another football-crazed state like Florida, the FHSAA reported 12,000 attended the 2024 Class 3A championship between Miami Northwestern and Jacksonville Raines.
The Panthers are set to begin their UIL Class 6A title defense this fall on Aug. 28th when they host the Lancaster Tigers.
