Texas Tech commit Kavian Bryant sets school single season passing yardage record

2027 Rivals’ No. 1 QB Kavian Bryant led Westwood to a wild 49-42 win over East Chambers last week in a Texas UIL Class 3A, Division I playoff game and in the process set a school record.
The Texas Tech commit posted on Saturday morning on X that he’s set a single season school-record by throwing for more than 3,000-plus yards this fall. If Bryant can keep up the torrid pace he’s currently on right now, he could be easily adding to those totals with a deep playoff run.
When Bryant entered the high school football scene as a wide-eyed freshman in 2023, it didn’t take long for the signal caller to fit right in among Texas high school football quarterbacks. In Bryant’s freshman campaign at Westwood, the signal caller threw for 2,282 yards and 33 touchdowns in 12 games played.
It was just a couple of weeks ago that Bryant made his pledge to staying in-state and committing to the Red Raiders.

“They’ve shown it every time we’ve been out there … this is how we could fit in at Texas Tech, how it could be a home away from home,” his father, Kadrian Bryant, told Rivals back on Nov. 1. “He’s constantly in contact with Coach Leftwich there. He’s constantly telling him how he can come in and be better than (Cam) Ward, because he had Ward over at Incarnate Word when he was there, and it worked when he was there. He has that comparison, so you know they do a really good job out there expressing to Kavian how he can come in there and basically be the face of the program.”
