Texas Tech signee Kaegan Ash breaks all-time Texas high school football rushing record
Mount Enterprise star senior Kaegan Ash signed with Texas Tech earlier this month. He’ll head to Lubbock as a Texas high school football legend.
One week after breaking Kenneth Hall’s longstanding single-season rushing record, Ash has now caught Hall’s career mark, breaking the state’s all-time rushing record. Hall, who played from 1950-53, finished with 11,232 yards on the ground.
Ash entered Friday night needing 90 yards to tie the record and he’s now surpassed it in Mount Enterprise’s 2A Division II state semifinal against Shiner.
Myriad elite athletes and prospects have come out of the Lone Star State since Hall set the all-time mark over 70 years ago. His 4,045 single-season record and career mark both seemed nearly untouchable for some time.
Another record Ash has broken this season that’s been standing since the 1980’s is that of former Sheridan (IN) running back Brett Law, who scored 453 points back in 1988. Ash ended up surpassing Law’s record and now sits with 476 points and counting as Mount Enterprise continues to make their playoff run in the Class 2A, Division II playoffs.
