For his senior year, Thompkins will join the Ascenders, the nation’s 22nd-best team and Florida’s No. 4 squad by the end of the 2024 season. In basketball, IMG Academy ranks 19th in the country and fourth in Florida. The Ascenders’ football team carved a 7-2 record, while their basketball team ended their campaign at 20-8.
Playing for IMG Academy means that Thompkins might share the backfield with fellow RBs Tranard Roberts and Anthony Howard Jr. Likewise, Thompkins will rely on Keenyi Pepe, Breck Kolojay, G’Nivre Carr, Will Conroy, and Steven Pickard to create gaps for him to blaze through.
As for his college football aspirations, Lekhy Thompkins committed to Louisville over Virginia Tech, Maryland, Marshall, and Mississippi State, among others. His 85.73 Rivals Industry Ranking makes him the nation’s No. 60 and the seventh-best running back among Florida’s Class of 2026 prospects, behind Derrek Cooper, Javian Mallory, Amari Thomas, Javari Barnett, Kaj Baker, and Li’Darious Pryor.
