Top-ranked prospect Tyran Stokes makes one important request

Without question, Tyran Stokes will merit the attention of several college basketball programs. In addition to being the top recruit from the Class of 2026, he is tearing up the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League with mind-boggling performances.
However, in the process of selecting the next chapter in his basketball journey, the forward from Notre Dame High School made a simple request through his X (formerly Twitter) account. Stokes tweeted, “Why can’t y’all give a kid some privacy.”
Tyran Stokes will be the talk of the town in every tournament he plays in. That enormous amount of attention is part of being a five-star prospect with the highest On3 Industry Rating among his fellow seniors. His 99.42 ranking gained him offers from Louisville, Kansas, Kentucky, and Arkansas, among others.
Stokes’ stock grew after leading the Knights in points (21), rebounds (9.3), and assists (3.9) per game last season. He also converted 54 percent of his shots and led Notre Dame in blocks with 23.
The Kentucky-born forward was integral to the Knights’ 28-8 finish in the 2024-25 California high school basketball season. They made it to the CIF Open Division regional final but lost to eventual state champions Roosevelt.

Those results had Notre Dame finishing 20th in the National On3 Composite Team Rankings. Likewise, they were the third-best team from California behind Roosevelt (No. 2) and Harvard-Westlake (No. 3).
While Tyran Stokes skipped playing AAU Basketball this summer, he is making headlines in the Nike EYBL. In a recent game for the Oakland Soldiers, Stokes tallied 30 points, 18 rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
In another game, he had 28 points, six rebounds, and three assists despite dealing with a wrist injury. If Tyran Stokes maintains these stat lines while representing Notre Dame, expect the bidding war among the over 25 schools that offered him to intensify.
