Corner Canyon is coming off their first loss of the season, a 42-21 decision against Lone Peak, and the Chargers are taking aim to bounce back against an upset-minded Skyridge bunch. When it comes to Utah high school football, these are two of the top three teams in the state. Can the Chargers rebound from last week’s upset or do the Falcons pull off a stunner in Lehi?

Chargers to Watch

Corner Canyon (5-1) had won five straight games pretty convincingly before dropping their first game of the season. The Chargers still maintain having one of the better offenses in the country, but will need their defense to show up after yielding 42 points to Lone Peak last week.

QB Helaman Casuga: The Texas A&M commitment has been his usual terrific self this season and has really come on strong in his senior year. Casuga has thrown for 1,675 yards and 18 touchdowns this fall.

WR Kai Meza: No Jerome Myles this season? No problem for the Chargers’ offense as Casuga’s new top target is the Minnesota three-star commitment as Meza has caught 29 passes for 533 yards and four scores this season.

RB Weston Briggs: With every great quarterback is usually not too far away from him, a pretty good running back. Briggs displayed his abilities this season by rushing for 555 yards and scoring seven touchdowns.

IOL Esun Tafa: Probably the most key player to the Corner Canyon offense is Tafa, a four-star USC commitment, leading the offensive line. Tafa anchors a stout offensive line that has blocked their way to the Chargers compiling nearly 3,000 yards of offense this fall.

Falcons to Watch

Outside of a loss to Colorado power Cherry Creek, Skyridge (5-1) has been pretty dominant themselves within the state of Utah. Coming off a narrow 42-38 victory over Lehi last week, the Falcons will need every bit of firepower they have on offense in order to keep up with a Corner Canyon group fuming after last week’s loss.

QB Kaneal Sweetwyne: The three-star senior signal caller has been superb through six games, throwing for 1,839 yards and 23 touchdowns. Also has added 382 yards rushing on the ground.

EDGE Harvie Moeai: The Arizona Wildcat three-star EDGE commit will have to be a disruption in the backfield throughout the evening if the Falcons look to have a chance at the upset against Corner Canyon.

WR Talmage Oswald: No wide receiver has been better this season for the Falcons than Oswald, who has caught 22 passes for 437 yards and scored three touchdowns.

LB Griffin Kunz: The sturdy 6-foot, 206-pound inside linebacker has been the heart and soul of the Falcons’ defense as Kunz has totaled a team-high 54 tackles, 8.5 for loss, two sacks and an interception.
