Varina (Va.) senior running back SirPaul Cheeks will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to a torn ACL, he tells Rivals.

The Blue Devils played without the veteran burner on Friday in a 21-14 loss to Grimsley, one of the top programs in North Carolina. Varina is now 4-2 on the season.

Varina has used three running backs consistently this fall, with Cheeks flanked by Michael Farley Jr. and Darren Williams. All three backs transferred in from other schools. Cheeks, nicknamed “Jesus in Cleats”, transferred from L.C. Bird this offseason.

A West Virginia commit, Cheeks tallied 16 touchdowns as a junior and had over 500 yards through the air and on the ground. He pledged to the Mountaineers ahead of the beginning of his senior season on July 15. He’s one of three running backs currently committed to WVU this cycle.

Cheeks is the No. 885 overall prospect and No. 59 RB in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 24 senior in Virginia.

Varina’s next game is set for this Friday, Oct. 17, against undefeated Hanover. The Blue Devils are currently the No. 8 team in Virginia, according to the Massey Ratings.
