Virginia high school football team forfeits game due to a lack of players

According to an announcement by John Marshall athletic department, the Justices won’t be able to partake in their scheduled Virginia high school football game this week.

Per the statement released by the John Marshall athletic department on Tuesday, the Justices have forfeited this week’s contest against Northampton due to a lack of available players.

The Justices opened up the season losing five in a row before picking up their first win of the season last week over Charles City Co., 30-0.

“Due to the recent player ejections and the VHSL-mandated 30% game suspensions, we are currently facing a significant reduction in eligible players. With only four games remaining, this directly impacts our ability to safely and competitively field a full team.

After careful consideration of player safety, VHSL compliance, and the overall integrity of our program, the difficult decision has been made to forfeit this Week 8 game vs. Northampton.

During this time, our focus will be on addressing player and coach conduct, reinforcing accountability, and rebuilding our team culture.
