The Indiana high school boys basketball upcoming 2025-26 season is right around the corner as practices have already started and teams are ramping up in anticipation of the first game.

Topping the Top 25 teams in the Top 25 teams out of the Hoosier State are the Fishers Tigers, which are coming off a 30-1 season after they fell in the IHSA Class 4A state championship game in a heartbreaker. The Tigers are back with plenty of talent dotted along their roster, but who else should we watch for out of Indiana when it comes to the state’s top teams?

We dive into the Indiana hoops scene as high school football season is still in full gear as take an early peek at who are the top teams from around the state.

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here’s a way-too-early look at the top 25 teams in the country according to the Massey Ratings, which ranks teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory, as of Oct. 30.

1. Fishers Tigers

Fishers Tigers were just a basket away from repeating as IHSA Class 4A state champions, falling in a heartbreaking, 67-66 decision to Jeffersonville. Don’t worry, Fishers fans, as this team returns plenty of talent from a year ago to take the No. 1 spot in our first first set of rankings out of Indiana. The Tigers brings back a pair of junior guards in Jason Gardner Jr. and Cooper Zachary, whom combined for around 26 points per game a season ago. Coming off a 30-1 season, the Tigers look to be one of the teams to beat this fall.

2. Lawrence North Wildcats

Speaking of another Indiana high school boys basketball team that ended up falling to Jeffersonville along the way in the Class 4A state tournament was Lawrence North, as they fell to the eventual champions in a 56-49 decision. The Wildcats bring back one of the state’s top power forwards in senior Brennan Miller, who averaged 13.4 points and 8.6 rebounds last season. Also watch out for forwards Kai McGrew and Kenneth Lampley, respectively.

3. Cathedral Fighting Irish

The Cathedral Fighting Irish check in at No. 3 in our rankings and are coming off a 20-5 campaign as they bring back a good chunk of their ball club from last winter. Detroit Mercy commitment Keaton Aldridge, who averaged 11.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists last season, is back in the lineup. Another key player that’s back for the Fighting Irish this season is guard Julien Smith, who was second on the team in scoring in 2024-25 at 13.5 points per game.

4. Noblesville Millers

Noblesville Millers playoff run ended at the hands of No. 1 ranked Fishers, 55-46, but this ball club comes in as one of the best via Massey Ratings to start the season. A reason why the Millers should be back in the mix is the return of seniors Baron Walker (Butler commit) and Justin Curry, who was second on the team in scoring last year at 15.6 points per game. With both Walker and Curry back, Noblesville will be a handle to deal with on any given night.

5. Westfield Shamrocks

Rounding out the Top 5 of the Indiana high school boys basketball rankings is the Westfield Shamrocks, which are another team that also saw their 2024-25 season end at the hands of top-ranked Fishers. The Shamrocks have a solid roster coming back that includes seniors Drew Haffner (12.4 points) and Durante Morton (12.2 points). A game we’re looking forward to seeing is on Dec. 19 when Westfield takes on No. 4 ranked Noblesville.
