West Virginia High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Nov. 18

West Virginia high school football season has turned to the WVSSAC playoffs as the first round was played last week in the Mountain State. Now the quarterfinals are taking place as things heat up deeper into the postseason.
Bridgeport remains the state’s No. 1 team after a 56-6 rout of PikeView, just ahead of No. 2 Martinsburg, which has won nine straight games after starting the season 0-2. Who else made the argument on the field last week to enter the latest set of West Virginia Top 25 rankings?
The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
Here is the latest West Virginia high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Nov. 18.
1. Bridgeport Indians
The Bridgeport Indians (11-0) are coming off an undefeated 2024 season by dominating Herbert Hoover in the Class AAA state championship game and look on their way to winning another title. Bridgeport, coming off a 56-6 win over PikeView in the opening round of the AAA playoffs, remains atop of the West Virginia rankings the last few weeks as the top team in the state.
It’s going to be hard to unseat the Indians as they have a favorable schedule the rest of the regular season ahead of them and could run the table at 14-0 for the second consecutive year. The Indians have their work cut out for them in the second round against No. 14 ranked Chapmanville in the second round.
2. Martinsburg Bulldogs
The Martinsburg Bulldogs (9-2) are the hottest team in West Virginia high school football right now. The Bulldogs have a rich history when it comes to winning state championships and after winning a second straight last year, tested their mettle against New Jersey’s Camden to start the year and began a surprising 0-2.
The Bulldogs kicked off the AAAA postseason with a dominating 58-0 victory over Parkersburg South in the first round. Martinsburg looks to win their 10th game in a row when they take on No. 10 Wheeling Park this week.
Martinsburg junior quarterback Brian Dick has had himself an impressive season behind center, totaling 2,392 yards and 32 touchdowns.
3. Morgantown Mohigans
Morgantown (10-1) is red hot right now as they’ve recorded three straight shutout victories, with the latest being a 56-0 rout of Buckhannon Upshur in the AAAA playoffs. Morgantown’s offense has been as well as any in the state behind the running of senior tailback Isaiah Thompson, who leads a unit that’s averaging 36.7 points per game.
The Mohigans bounced back from the Martinsburg loss when they defeated Parkersburg South, 45-10, and then took care of business on the road against Musselman in a 45-0 win. Morgantown heads into the quarterfinal round as the No. 1 seed versus No. 7 Spring Mills.
4. Princeton Tigers
There’s not many offenses in the state of West Virginia clicking quite like the Princeton Tigers right now. The Tigers (11-0) are averaging an impressive 48.3 points per contest behind the play of senior quarterback Chance Barker.
Princeton had arguably its best outing of the season when they defeated No. 7 Independence, 42-30, a few weeks ago. The Tigers finished the regular season with an unbeaten record after soundly defeating South Charleston, 55-19, and began the postseason last week with a 56-6 win over Hampshire.

In this week’s AAA quarterfinals, Princeton will take on No. 12 ranked Herbert Hoover (9-2) at home.
5. Huntington Highlanders
Huntington (9-2) dropped their second game of the season to another out-of-state opponent when they fell against Tennessee’s Sevier County, 42-26, a few weeks ago. The Highlanders were able to bounce back with a 28-14 victory over The Linsly School to close out the regular season.
The Highlanders made all the woes of losing a year ago in the regular season opener in a Week 2 matchup when they upset Martinsburg, 22-20, a team that they lost to last year by a point the Class AAAA state semifinals. Highlanders, coming off a 48-14 win over Hedgesville, heads into AAAA quarterfinal play against University this week.
