West Virginia high school football season is now in the state semifinal round of the WVSSAC playoffs as teams are one win away from playing for a state championship.

Martinsburg, which has won nine straight games after starting the season 0-2, has taken over as the No. 1 team in the state after rolling to a 55-35 win over Wheeling Park last week. Who else made the argument on the field last week to enter the latest set of West Virginia Top 25 rankings?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest West Virginia high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Nov. 25.

1. Martinsburg Bulldogs

The Martinsburg Bulldogs (10-2) are the hottest team in West Virginia high school football right now. The Bulldogs have a rich history when it comes to winning state championships and after winning a second straight last year, tested their mettle against New Jersey’s Camden to start the year and began a surprising 0-2.

The Bulldogs won their 10th game in a row when they defeated No. 10 Wheeling Park, 55-35, last week. Now Martinsburg will take on University for a chance to reach the AAAA state championship game.

Martinsburg junior quarterback Brian Dick has had himself an impressive 2025 season behind center, totaling 2,702 all-purpose yards and 37 touchdowns.

2. Bridgeport Indians

The Bridgeport Indians (11-1) are coming off an undefeated 2024 season by dominating Herbert Hoover in the Class AAA state championship game and were on their way to winning another title until falling to No. 14 ranked Chapmanville in the second round, 33-27.

Bridgeport was coming off a 56-6 win over PikeView in the opening round of the AAA playoffs and looked like they were well on their way to repeating as AAA state champions. The Indians’ high-scoring offense averaged 52.5 points per game through 12 games as they end their season a couple wins short of winning a state crown.

3. Morgantown Mohigans

Morgantown (11-1) just barely edged No. 7 Spring Mills in the second round of the AAAA playoffs, coming away with a 34-33 win. Morgantown’s offense has been as well as any in the state behind the running of senior tailback Isaiah Thompson, who leads a unit that’s averaging 36.5 points per game.

The Mohigans bounced back from the Martinsburg loss when they defeated Parkersburg South, 45-10, and then took care of business on the road against Musselman in a 45-0 win. Morgantown will now face Jefferson with a chance to reach the AAAA state championship against either Martinsburg or University.

4. Princeton Tigers

There’s not many offenses in the state of West Virginia clicking quite like the Princeton Tigers (12-0) right now. The Tigers (12-0) are averaging an impressive 47.7 points per contest behind the play of senior quarterback Chance Barker.

Princeton had arguably its best outing of the season when they defeated No. 7 Independence, 42-30, a few weeks ago. The Tigers finished the regular season with an unbeaten record after soundly defeating South Charleston, 55-19, then followed it up in the postseason last week with a 56-6 win over Hampshire and then beat No. 12 ranked Herbert Hoover, 41-35.

In this week’s AAA semifinals, Princeton will take on No. 21 ranked Spring Valley (9-3) at home with a berth in the state championship game on the line.

5. Frankfort Falcons

Making their debut into the Top 5 of the rankings are the Frankfort Falcons (12-0) after they soundly defeated Mingo Central, 50-15, in last week’s Class AA quarterfinals.

This week, the Falcons will square off against Doddridge County (12-0) as the battle for the opportunity to play for the AA state championship game. Frankfort is another program’s that’s seeing its offense play at a very high level right now, with the Falcons averaging around 44 points per game.

If Frankfort is going to advance, they’ll need a solid performance from junior running back Braydn Tyler and senior quarterback Blake Jacobs.
