West Virginia High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Sep. 23

West Virginia high school football rankings after four weeks of play has revealed which teams have begun separating themselves from the pack. There’s practically no change at the top in the last two weeks as the same programs have kept up their winning ways.
Bridgeport remains the state’s top team with an undefeated start while Martinsburg has started to pick it up, winning consecutive games for the first time this season. Who else made an impression last week and enters the Top 25 mix?
Here are the top 25 teams heading into Week 4 of the 2025 West Virginia high school football season, according to Massey.
The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory as of Sep. 23.
1. Bridgeport Indians
The Bridgeport Indians (4-0) are coming off an undefeated 2024 season by dominating Herbert Hoover in the Class AAA state championship game. Bridgeport sits firmly entrenched atop of the West Virginia rankings the last three weeks as the top team in the state. It’s going to be hard to unseat the Indians as they have a favorable schedule the rest of the regular season ahead of them and could run the table at 14-0 for the second consecutive year. Bridgeport made easy work of Philip Barbour in a 63-14 romping and up next for the Indians is an away tilt against Robert C. Byrd (2-2).
2. Huntington Highlanders
Huntington (3-1) is on a roll as apparent with their latest victory, a 68-20 dismantling of Hurricane. The Highlanders made all the woes of losing in the regular season opener go away when they upset Martinsburg, 22-20, a team that they lost to last year by a point the Class AAAA state semifinals. The Highlanders have won three straight games and firmly put themselves at the top of AAAA with the victory over the Redskins. Huntington will enjoy a bye week before returning to play on Oct. 3 when they face off against Capital.
3. Martinsburg Bulldogs
The Martinsburg Bulldogs (2-2) has started to really take their frustrations of the first two weeks out on opponents as they posted 70 points in their last two victories. The Bulldogs have a rich history when it comes to winning state championships and after winning a second straight last year, tested their mettle against New Jersey’s Camden to start the year. The Bulldogs lost the opener and it trickled into last week as they fell in a 22-20 loss To Huntington. The Bulldogs were off to their first 0-2 start since 2015 until they were able to get off the snide against Woodson. Martinsburg have a chance to notch three in a row when they go head up with Jefferson this Friday night.
4. Princeton Tigers
There’s not many offenses in the state of West Virginia clicking quite like the Princeton Tigers right now. The Tigers (3-0) are averaging a staggering 45 points per contest behind the play of senior quarterback Chance Barker. Princeton’s signal caller has completed 30 of 48 passes for 483 yards, six touchdowns and only one pick through the opening weeks of the season. The Tigers return to play this week when they take on Graham.

5. Morgantown Mohigans
Morgantown (4-0) has been playing at a very high level through the first four weeks and are coming off a 48-21 win over Connellsville Area. The Mohigans are making the argument to move up the ranks and a meeting with Spring Mills this week will be tall telling on where Morgantown is at. Morgantown has already breezed by teams like Parkersburg, Jefferson and Hedgesville by a combined score of 134-21. A 3-game stretch beginning this week until Oct. 10 when the Mohigans face Spring Mills, Wheeling Park and Martinsburg will test the mettle of this program.
