The Green Bay school board voted 5-2 to terminate a Wisconsin high school football coach. In a report by FOX 11 News’ Eric Morris, the board fired East High School’s former coach Kominiko Sila a month after he underwent an administrative leave due to several allegations.

A press release from the Green Bay Area Public School District outlined that Sila intentionally falsified student attendance records and facilitated unauthorized transportation of students.

For the first offense, the statement reads, “On more than 140 occasions, from September 5, 2025 through October 15, 2025, Niko Sila knowingly deleted accurate and official student absence records from the District’s student record systems, Infinite Campus. These actions resulted in false student attendance records that were relied upon for athletic participation eligibility, and School and District reporting requirements for the purpose of state report cards and a federal grant that East currently receives; and interfered with system absence notification to parents, and prevented attendance interventions to be triggered and implemented.”

Sila’s actions allowed ineligible players to participate in three Wisconsin high school football games. The count includes the Red Devils’ September 5 game against Sheboygan South, October 3 versus Sheboygan North, and October 17 against Green Bay West. The games against the Sheboygan-based teams were their only victories through nine games this season.

Likewise, Sila repeatedly transported students using his private vehicle but without undergoing the mandatory vehicle registration and driver’s license background check. Despite previous disciplinary action, Sila still refused to abide even if these policies are based on state law.

Sila and his representatives appealed during a public meeting attended by his players and some community members. After hearing his plea, the board needed 45 minutes to deliberate on their decision.

While Sila isn’t a Wisconsin high school football coach anymore, he will be establishing a youth mentoring program and plans to run for a place in the school board.
