Yale commit Marques Council Jr. out for the rest of 2025 season

According to a report by the Beaver County Times, Yale commitment Marques Council Jr. won’t be seeing a high school football field for the rest of the 2025 Pennsylvania season.

The report stated that in a statement provided by the quarterback’s mother, Taira, to the outlet regarding Council Jr., the Aliquippa senior signal caller will be out the rest of the 2025 season due to a knee injury. The Quips are currently 5-2 on the season with games against Montour and Ambridge Area, respectively, remaining.

Council Jr. was coming off a strong junior campaign for Alquippa, passing for 1,477 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2024. The quarterback picked Yale over a slew of offers, which included Brown, Penn, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart and Temple.

“I’m been smiling ear to ear ever since the day I committed and I keep telling myself that I can’t believe I’m committed to Yale University,” Council Jr. said after his commitment to Yale via a Pittsburgh Sports Now report. “I never in a million years though I would be saying that. The life after athletic opportunities that Yale will be able to provide me definitely played a role in my decision but what really secured my decision was my official visit there over the weekend.”

One of the signal caller’s best performances this season came in a 21-16 win over Penn Hills, which Council Jr. threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns.
