Baylor power forward Jeremy Sochan is off the board in the 2022 NBA Draft. With the No. 9 pick of the first round, Sochan was selected by the San Antonio Spurs.

A four-star recruit in the Class of 2021, Jeremy Sochan is a Polish-American declaring for the NBA Draft after one season of college basketball. During that season, he helped the Baylor Bears become Big 12 co-regular season champions. They made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament when they lost to North Carolina.

Jeremy Sochan is an excellent defensive player, who dominated off the bench. In his one season at Baylor, Sochan was a member of the Big 12 All-Freshman team. He was also the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year.

In one season at Baylor, Sochan averaged 9.2 points per game, 6.4 rebounds per game, and 1.8 assists per game. He shot 47.4% from the field and 29.6% from three-point range.

Mock drafts expected Jeremy Sochan to go in the first round. CBS Sports felt that Sochan has the potential to be worthy of a top-10 pick. Meanwhile, ESPN predicted he would go 16th.

“The 19-year-old forward is oozing with potential and has many of the key qualities NBA scouts drool over – his measurables, his upside, versatility, defensive potential and high motor,” according to NBA.com.

“He’s got plenty of room to improve and has what’s considered very good shooting form, but Sochan likely won’t be viewed as a major offensive weapon at the next level…Where Sochan will make his mark at the NBA level will likely be on the defensive end, and the sky’s the limit for what many consider the most versatile defender in the Draft, with the quickness and athleticism to switch on any guard and the size and tenacity to deal with frontcourt foes.”

Jeremy Sochan is a member of the Polish national basketball team. There he has played a key role in EuroBasket 2022 qualification. His next challenge is the NBA.
