Four-star prospect Trey Green out of Branson (Mo.) Link Academy tells On3 he’s down to seven schools — Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Nebraska, LSU, VCU, and Xavier.

The 5-foot-10 point guard is ranked as the No. 72 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Green has visited Nebraska officially, and Virginia Tech and Cincinnati unofficially.

Green talks finalists

Cincinnati: “Great coaching staff, great culture. Love the atmosphere. They treated me like family when I was on campus. The program is growing with coach (Wes) Miller being there.”

Nebraska: “Coach (Fred) Hoiberg has great experience, as far as coaching and also at the pro level. He played in the league for quite some time, and coached at Iowa State and did a great job there. Coach Hoiberg and the program is great.”

Clemson: “I love Clemson’s atmosphere. It’s close to home, from Charlotte. The coaching staff is good and they also treat me like family, off the court also.”

Virginia Tech: “Virginia Tech had a great season; ACC champs. I feel like with coach (Mike) Young being there, they’re a rising program and they expressed their love to me early.”

VCU: “Coaches show love every single day…call, check in, family, great coaching staff. Love the program and they’re going to continue to build.”

Xavier: “They just got a new coaching staff. They also expressed their love early. They came pretty hard when they wanted to offer. Being in the Big East, I feel like there’s a lot of competition. I feel like they could be at the top of that ‘comp.”

LSU: “Great coaching staff. Coach (Ronnie) Hamilton, coming from Ole Miss, expressed his love. I feel like they’re going to be on the uprising as well.”

Scouting Report

“Trey Green is a feisty point guard who simply produces. He comes by it honestly as his father, David Green, was a D-I quarterback who threw for over 1,500 yards at Duke. Trey has a tight handle and likes to play aggressively downhill. While on the small side, he plays a fearless style of on-ball defense. Green is a smooth shooter with deep range. He has good footwork on both ends of the floor. Green can get tunnel vision at times, but he has done an excellent job of learning how to run a high-level team this season. The college that goes in on Green will have to like smaller guards, but there is a lot of fight and skill in this one.” – Jamie Shaw, On3’s National Recruiting Analyst
