In the morning window, No. 2 and No. 3 seeds Arkansas and Kentucky kicked off the day after both fell in upsets the day prior. The Wildcats jumped on top early and scored two runs in the top of the first on Razorback ace Hagen Smith, who was then pulled after just two complete innings.

The Hogs did battle back to make it a 6-4 ballgame at one point but a two-run home run from Kentucky’s Ryan Waldschmidt provided the necessary insurance runs and doubled the lead back up to 8-4 with his second home run of the day in the seventh. Ultimately, the final score wound up at 9-6 as Arkansas heads home and Kentucky remains alive.

Not too long after, Tennessee and Texas A&M were up, with the Vols surviving for at least another day. A three-run home run from Kavares Tears wound up being the difference in the bottom of the seventh, giving head coach Tony Vitello’s team a 7-4 win.

To begin the night portion of Day 3, LSU and South Carolina put on an offensive clinic. A total of 21 runs crossed the plate, with home runs playing a big factor. A double-digit seed was going to advance either way but the Tigers are now into the semifinals and two games away from a conference championship.

Joining them with a day off will be the Vanderbilt Commodores. While offense has been the name of their SEC Tournament game thus far, only four runs were required to take down Mississippi State Friday night. A solid pitching performance from JD Thompson was enough to earn Vandy a third straight win in Hoover.
