Vero Beach (Fla.) linebacker Tarvos Alford is closing in on a commitment. The No. 59 prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings has cut his list down to Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee and UCF.

The four-star will announce his decision on March 30. That is a special day to Alford.

“That is my grandfather’s birthday,” Alford told On3. “He passed away in February of 2019, so I want to honor him because he was always close to my heart. Growing up, my dad worked a lot to support the family, so my grandfather was there, he showed me the ropes of being a man and we had that type of relationship. On March 30, I will honor him and show him thanks for always being there.”

Alford was at UCF on Jan. 20 and he was at Miami on Jan. 27 for their Junior Day. It was his eighth visit to Coral Gables. He has visited Florida State five times, Florida three times, Ohio State twice and Tennessee once.

“All six schools are equal on my list. I am a man of faith and I am going to pray on this leading up to my decision. All schools have made me feel comfortable, the coaches are guys that I trust and the coaches make me feel like family.

“I have the relationships at each school and the academics and athletics are strong too. I am fine with all five schools, so it will come down to prayer and I will let God show me the way on March 30.”

The next scheduled visit is to Ohio State on March 23. He would like visit to Gainesville and Knoxville before he commits as well.

Alford breaks down his finalists

FLORIDA: “There were some concerns when Coach Jay Bateman left, but with them coming by, I feel as if I’m still high on their chart. Me and Coach Billy Napier had our on relationship too. All the times I’ve been there, the whole staff felt like family. I recently met the new linebackers coach (Ron Roberts) and heard about his resume. He seems like he’s about business and that has my interest.”

FLORIDA STATE: “It is about how tight me and Randy Shannon are. He is from the same area I am from, my family likes him and we have a great relationship. Coach Mike Norvell is one of the most real head coaches too. He keeps eye contact when talking to me, he is truly interested in me and he is a great person.”

MIAMI: “Coach Derek Nicholson is my guy. He is a great coach and a high-energy guy. I love his style and his energy. Coach Nicholson is my type of guy. Coach Mario Cristobal is very involved too.”

OHIO STATE: “From my first visit to Ohio State, I felt like it was somewhere I could call home. The coaches really treat me like family. They have shown they truly want me and I like the feeling I have up there.”

TENNESSEE: “Tennessee has been one of the most consistent schools with me. Multiple coaches reach out, they send scripture to me and I like the relationships.”

UCF: “I recently had great visit there and the coaches are really recruiting me hard. They are showing a lot of love and they have to be on the list.”
