Over 30 schools have offered Tarvos Alford and while he is not ready to close the door on any schools, he has gotten to the point where a group of 10 have moved to the top of his list.

Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Miami, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Tennessee and UCF are the top schools for the four-star linebacker out of Vero Beach (Fla.). There are some common factors on why these 10 stand out the most.

“These 10 are the main schools that stay in contact and show the most love,” Alford told On3. “Coaches from all of these school reach out at least once or twice a week, I have built some good relationships and that is a big factor. These are also schools I can see myself playing for and making an early impact at.”

Out of the 10 schools, the 6-foot-2, 204-pound junior has visited all at least once outside of Penn State and Rutgers. He has taken in games at Florida (Tennessee), Miami (Georgia Tech and Texas A&M) and UCF (Baylor) the fall. Florida State will have Alford back on campus this weekend.

Each visit is important.

“I can’t go somewhere without seeing it beforehand. I want to know what to expect and I want to know the people I am going to be around, so the visits are very important to me.”

The No. 94 prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings will continue to take visits in the fall. After visiting Tallahassee this weekend, he plans to be back at Ohio State when the Buckeyes host Michigan State on Nov. 11. Official visits are likely before he makes his decision as well.

“This is the first step for me,” Alford said. “This helps me focus on schools and decide on the one I want to go to. My plan is to keep taking visits, then commit after I take some official visits.

“I am looking for that combination of how I feel in the atmosphere to where I can play early and get ready for the NFL. If I know earlier than when I take my official visits, then I will commit. Once you know, you know, so I will go off that feeling.”
