Class of 2025 WR Ja’Kayden Ferguson blends size and speed and is one of the most sought-after pass-catchers out of the Lone Star State in next year’s recruiting class.

Now, he has a finish line in his recruitment in his sights.

Ferguson, the No. 45-ranked wide receiver in the country out of Fort Bend (Texas) Marshall High School just outside of Houston, told On3 that his final four schools are Oregon, Houston, Oklahoma and Tennessee. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder in the Class of 2025 will reveal his college decision on January 2.

The Ducks have made Texas a priority under Dan Lanning’s tenure in Eugene.

Oregon has been in the mix with the Houston-area pass-catcher for several months.

“Oregon is a dream school growing up,” Ferguson told On3 of the Ducks. “I always said I wanted to go there, so me getting the opportunity to play for them — that’s like a dream come true. It still feels unreal to think about.”

The Houston Cougars have maintained a strong presence in the local standout receiver’s recruitment.

Houston has been a contender since the jump with Ferguson. They’ve also remained consistent.

“The Houston coaches show tons of love,” he started. “I talk to someone on that coaching staff every day. They have been locked in with me ever since freshmen year. I love Houston.”

Oklahoma’s Emmett Jones was among the first to extend an offer in the direction of Ferguson.

Ferguson raved about his visits up to Norman and their track record of producing NFL draft picks.

“Oklahoma always has been a dream school and the coaches over there are great,” he said. “They have a nice offense. I went out there and loved it, and how they get people to the NFL.”

Tennessee got the three-star wide receiver to Rocky Top earlier this fall for the homecoming contest vs. Connecticut.

That was Ferguson’s second trip to Knoxville for the Texas-based wide receiver, who also camped for coach Kelsey Pope and Kody Cook when he picked up an offer from the Vols this summer.

“Tennessee is nice,” he said. “Coach Pope and Coach Cook are great young coaches and their quarterback room is crazy.”

Ferguson checks in as the No. 443 overall player in the country in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
