Isaiah Evans was one of the breakout stars of North Carolina this year. This year, the 6-foot-6 2024 wing helped lead his Huntersville (NC) North Mecklenburg team to a 27-5 record.

“I’m a lanky presence on both sides of the ball,” Evans told On3. “I think my passing is pretty underrated. I watch a lot of Kevin Durant and Brandon Ingram; how sharp their moves are and how confident they are with their shots.”

He is playing this summer with TSF on the 176u EYBL Circuit. On3 caught up with Isaiah Evans at the Josh Level Classic to talk about some of the early programs prioritizing him.

“We hear the most from Tennessee right now,” Evans said. “We hear from Cincinnati a decent amount too.”

Evans talks recruitment

Tennessee: “They’re telling us that I would fit really well in their program, and I am one of their top recruits. They are a real gritty team, and they can produce pros out of that program.”

Cincinnati: “They kind of just surprised me when they offered; I don’t know much about them yet. I know they got a new staff, and they are trying to get that program back to where it was with their type of players.”

“We hear from NC State, Ohio State, Kansas, and South Carolina,” Evans said. “They let us know I am on their radar, and they will be tracking me closely.”

“I don’t have any visits set yet,” Evans said. “I want to go see Cincinnati, Old Dominion, Tennessee, some of those schools.”

Evan’s take

“When I go on visits, I will look closely at the location,” Evans said. “Is that place somewhere I want to live? I’m going to look at the gym, the weight room, the facilities. Those are going to play a big role in me getting better. I want to see their plan for my development.”

On3’s take

Isaiah Evans is a lengthy prospect who is all arms and legs right now. He moves fluidly and is comfortable on the ball in the open floor. Good in the passing lanes; length helps with deflections. He is very thin and needs to continue adding weight. His jump shot is inconsistent and needs work on the mechanics. Evans is a good off-ball cutter, and he seems to have a high basketball IQ. The strength will be the thing here; can he get there?
