Efeosa Oliogu is tracking as one of the top basketball prospects in Canada, and he is also only a freshman. The 6-foot-6 wing at Toronto (CAN) United Scholastic Academy averaged 12 points per game this summer in the FIBA Americas for Canada’s u16 team.

“I’m versatile, very good in transition,” Oliogu told On3. “I am tough to stop. I can produce in the halfcourt, and I’m hungry on defense. This year, I am shooting the ball more consistently, and my conditioning is getting better. My favorite player right now is Collin Sexton; I know he is injured, but I like the fact that he is very energetic on defense but still be able to produce on offense.”

College coaches are already taking notice of the 2006 born wing. On3 caught up with Efeosa Oliogu after a Big Shots Prep Nationals win to discuss which schools are on him early.

“I have offers from Washington State, Oregon, Providence, TCU, and DePaul,” Oliogu said. “I have not been on any visits yet, but we are planning to go see Oregon and Providence soon.”

Oliogu talks recruitment

Oregon: “I am liking the look of their gym. Even when I am watching them play, I like how their coaches and players interact like yesterday. I like the way they coach. I would like to go experience that.”

Providence: “I haven’t been able to really look into the school. That is why I want to visit. I like the coaching staff, the people there. They are winning too.”

Oliogu’s take

“I didn’t grow up watching college basketball. I was more into high school basketball. But I really do like Kentucky and Duke. They are both top schools, and if I were to get an offer from there, it would show that I am one of the best players and that all my hard work is paying off.

“When I go on these visits, I want to get to On3’s takeknow the people. I want to be around good people who want me to succeed at the highest level and continue getting better.”

On3’s take

Physically, Efeosa Oliogu looks the part of a college upper-classman. He is lengthy, with a strong frame and explosive straight-line athleticism. He plays the game with a lot of confidence as a wing scorer. Oliogu is most comfortable playing in straight lines toward the rim. There is upside defensively with his athleticism and frame. Offensively is where he shines naturally. The jump shot needs more reps, but it is not broken. Oliogu has already experienced success at the international level and is only getting better. He should be tracking as one of the top prospects in the 2025 class.
