Oklahoma City (Okla.) Heritage Hall three-star cornerback Gavin Freeman has flipped his verbal commitment at Texas Tech to accept a preferred walk-on offer from Oklahoma.

He had been committed to the Red Raiders since October 2021.

Freeman is the No. 1623 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Gavin Freeman is the son of former Oklahoma tight end Jason Freeman, who played for the Sooners in the 1990s.

The Sooners recruiting class is ranked ninth in the 2022 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking. Oklahoma has two wide receiver commits in the class in Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange four-star wide receiver Jayden Gibson and Katy (Texas) four-star wide receiver Nicholas Anderson.
