Kansas City (Mo.) Liberty North four-star athlete Jayshawn Ross is down to five schools in his recruitment, he announced on Monday.

Among the remaining contenders are Michigan, Nebraska, Penn State, Tennessee and Oklahoma.

Ross is the No. 347 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 16 athlete and the No. 8 senior recruit in Missouri.

Ross narrowed his list of five down from more than 20 offers, which also included Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oregon and more.

He is fresh off an official visit to Oklahoma over the weekend and also visited Nebraska last week, where he was re-offered by the Huskers’ staff. The Sooners are trending heavily to land him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). That follows an expert prediction from SoonerScoop.com’s Josh McCuistion last week.

“With eight official visitors on the offensive and defensive line already expected this weekend there’s hopes of things changing,” McCuistion wrote. “No player seems more likely to change that momentum than Liberty (Mo.) North pass rusher Jayshawn Ross. Ross, who clearly enjoyed his time around the coaching staff and fellow visitors on Tuesday, seems to be very high on the Sooners at the moment.

… There’s been talk of a decision coming later in the summer but the closer his official visit comes it feels like Ross is giving more and more consideration to making a choice. Barring some drastic change any pick in the foreseeable future will be good news for the Sooners. And that’s why I’ve put in a prediction for Miguel Chavis and Co.
