Bobi Klintman, Maryland’s one and only 2022 signee has requested to be released from his National Letter of Intent and will re-open his recruitment, he tells On3.

Klintman committed to the Terrapins in October and then inked the dotted line on the first day of the early signing period, November 10th.

The news of Klintman backing off his pledge doesn’t shock anyone as Maryland and Mark Turgeon parted ways in early December. Danny Manning is serving as interim coach for the time being.

Klintman sent a statement to On3 regarding his decommitment:

It saddens me to announce this, but after long prayer, I have to decommit from the University of Maryland because of the recent coaching change. I wish them the best of luck. I want to thank Maryland fans for all their love and support, as well as the staff. Thank you for the opportunity. Thank you to all my supporters, friends, and family for continuing to show love. With that being said, I’m looking to find a new home and my recruitment is open.

Bobi Klintman is rated as the No. 97 overall prospect in the On3 100. The 6-foot-8 small forward out of Malmo (Sweden) Sunrise Christian chose the Terrapins over Kansas, Virginia, Texas A&M, Maryland, and Rutgers. Klintman immediately becomes one of the best available prospects in the 2022 class.
