Bessemer City (Ala.) four-star defensive lineman Emanuel Ruffin is beginning to narrow down his recruitment, with three official visits now on the docket.

The 6-foot-3, 295-pounder posted on Sunday that he currently has three trips locked in for the month of June. He’ll head to LSU May 30-June 1, then make stops at both Ohio State (June 6-8) and Alabama (June 20-22).

He previously had a visit scheduled with Florida for the weekend of June 6 and another with Tennessee June 13, but those appear to be off — at least for now.

Ruffin visited both the Gators and in-state Crimson Tide in April, and he also visited LSU in March. The Tigers have been coming on strong in his recruitment. He first received an offer from former defensive line coach Bo Davis in January, and new DL coach Kyle Williams has maintained that momentum.

“The conversations have been great from (Coach Williams),” Ruffin told On3’s The Bengal Tiger. “He tells me how I can make an impact on their defensive line.”

Alabama, the in-state school, offered him back in January during his first visit to campus. And they’ve continued to make him feel like a priority. Being a local kid, their interest in him is a big deal.

“It means a lot. It means the world,” Ruffin told BamaOnLine when he received his offer. “The greatest. It means everything to me. Growing up in an Alabama household, that just means a lot to me and my family. I know that they’re proud, and I’m also proud.”

He has yet to visit Ohio State, but that will change next month. They’re one of the most recent schools to get involved, with defensive line coach Larry Johnson extending an offer earlier this month.

Ruffin is one of the most prized interior linemen in the class, in large part due to his movement skills and advanced technique. He was one of the top performers in March at the Under Armour Next+ camp in Nashville.

“Ruffin had the second best showing along the defensive front, behind fellow state of Alabama prospect, Jamarion Matthews,” wrote Charles Power, On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings. “The 6-foot-3.5, 290-pounder showed some explosive movements in drills along with a nice effort level. He carried that over into 1-on-1’s, where he won the majority of the reps we saw. Ruffin shot off the line with burst and violence at the point of attack. Similar to Matthews, we liked the technical ability Ruffin showed on Sunday. Ruffin often went for power but flashed a nice bull rush and employed a straight arm while driving the offensive lineman deep into the backfield.”
