4-star EDGE Asharri Charles commits to Miami over Missouri, Florida

Venice (Fla.) four-star EDGE Asharri Charles has committed to Miami, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Sunday.
He chose the Hurricanes over more than 20 other offers, which included fellow top schools Missouri and Florida. Charles visited each of those programs, along with Kentucky and Louisville in June, but ultimately will stay in the Sunshine State with the ‘Canes.
“My relationship is great with the Hurricanes,” Charles told CaneSport in early May. “I talk with Coach Jason Taylor almost every week. He’ll send me drills, teach me stuff, and sometimes we don’t even talk about football. We talk about life and everything going on with our families.”
Taylor, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, heightened his interest in the Hurricanes. Having a chance to learn from one of the best pass-rushers of all-time is something he doesn’t take lightly.

“I think it’s very cool,” Charles said. “I feel like if he can do it, and he plays the same position I do and does everything the same way I do, then I can do it too.”
The 6-foot-2, 235-pounder is the No. 194 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 25 EDGE and the No. 25 recruit in the state of Florida.
Charles is the 15th commitment this cycle for the Hurricanes, joining a class that ranks No. 9 nationally in the On3 rankings. He’s joined by Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell and seven other blue-chippers. The Hurricanes have been working hard in their own state as well, with 10 of their 15 pledges hailing from inside Florida’ borders.
