4-star LB Jaishawn Barham commits to South Carolina

District Heights (Md.) St. Frances Academy four-star linebacker Jaishawn Barham has committed to South Carolina, he announced Saturday.

Barham is the No. 157 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is ranked as the nation’s 12th-best linebacker and third-best player from the state of Maryland.

Only Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh School four-star defensive lineman Dani Dennis-Sutton and St. Frances Academy teammate and four-star defensive lineman Derrick Moore are ranked ahead him from Maryland.

He chose Gamecocks over Maryland, Oklahoma, Penn State and South Carolina.

He is South Carolina’s No. 19 commit in the 2022 cycle, joining Philadelphia St. Joseph’s Prep School four-star safety Keenan Nelson Jr. and Powder Springs (Ga.) Hillgrove four-star cornerback Emory Floyd.

Jaishawn Barham is he top commit in the class, which is ranked No. 21 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

All six of the team’s four-star commits are defensive players, including fellow four-star linebackers Nick Emmanwori of Irmo (S.C.) Dutch Fork and Donovan Westmoreland of Griffin (Ga.).
