Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep four-star offensive tackle Johnnie Jones has committed to UCLA, choosing the Bruins over Ole Miss, Penn State, Florida State, Colorado and Vanderbilt.

Jones named those schools as his top six late last month, but chose to shut things down after taking his official visit to Los Angeles over the weekend, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

His father, Johnnie Jones, Sr., who played at USF, feels good about this decision.

“It was Johnnie’s journey and his decision,” the elder Jones told On3. “UCLA was real. We saw longevity on and off the field at UCLA and Johnny feels he can be a part of something UCLA is building. UCLA did a great job recruiting him and we, as his parents, were here and supportive on his side. This was his journey and his decision. He feels can be one of the main pillars of UCLA football and the vision of the program.”

Despite being across the country, UCLA’s hard-fought efforts to land him ultimately paid off.

“One of the main factors for me is relationships,” Jones told On3’s this spring. “Another thing is that I’m definitely going to pray about my decision to make sure I feel good. The last thing is that I want to see myself being in the city and living there.”

The 6-foot-7, 315-pounder is the No. 145 overall prospect and No. 12 OT in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He checks in as On3’s No. 81 overall prospect and No. 8 offensive tackle in the 2026 class.
