Mustang (Okla.) four-star quarterback Jaden O’Neal has committed to Florida State, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

His commitment to the ‘Noles comes after he backed off a longtime pledge to Oklahoma on June 19, which he held for more than a year. At the time, he chose the Sooners over more than 20 other reported offers. He transferred into Mustang High — 30 minutes from Norman — this offseason from California’s Narbonne High, with the expectation that he would sign with the Sooners in December.

However, the Sooners continued to pursue other quarterbacks, including four-star Bowe Bentley, who pledged just a day after O’Neal decided to reopen his options.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder ranks as the nation’s No. 234 overall recruit and No. 16 quarterback in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

O’Neal has been one of California’s most prolific quarterbacks

After transferring from Newport Harbor to Narbonne between his sophomore and junior seasons, O’Neal missed the first seven games of the 2024 season due to transfer rules. But he ultimately led the Gauchos to a Los Angeles City Section Open Division championship in December.

In the team’s 75-37 win over San Pedro in the city title game, O’Neal completed 14 of 21 passes for 396 yards with six passing touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown. In eight games for Narbonne, the 6-foot-3, 200-pounder threw for 1,798 yards and 16 scores while completing better than 71 percent of passes.

That followed a sophomore campaign at Newport Harbor where he finished with 2,475 passing yards and 27 touchdowns while completing 61% of his attempts.

O’Neal joins an FSU class that came into the day ranked No. 17 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. With him in the fold, they now sit at No. 15.

He is now one of eight blue-chip commitments for Mike Norvell and Co., joining a class headlined by four-star Efrem White, Brandon Bennet, Tedarius Hughes and Darryl Bell.
