4-star QB Luke Nickel signs with Miami Hurricanes

Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton four-star quarterback Luke Nickel has signed with Miami.
Nickel is the nation’s No. 265 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 24 quarterback in the class and the No. 38 recruit from the state of Georgia.
On3 is the highest on Nickel of the four major recruiting services. He ranks No. 103 overall and No. 11 among quarterbacks in the latest release of the On300.
Nickel has been committed to Miami longer than anyone in the Hurricanes’ 2025 recruiting class. He committed to the ‘Canes on Aug. 11, 2023.
Other schools reached out to Nickel earlier this fall, but he remained locked in with Miami all throughout.

“This is why I picked the school. I have trust in coach (Mario) Cristobal,” Nickel told On3 in September. “He is getting the team in the right spot, he has built a team and we are good from top to bottom. Coach Cristobal has installed the culture and the team is playing hard for him and Miami.”
In 13 games at Milton this season, Nickel has thrown for over 3,000 yards and 36 touchdown passes. With Milton in the Georgia state semifinals, he needs just one touchdown pass to eclipse the 100-touchdown mark for his career.
Scout’s Take on Luke Nickel
This summer at the Elite 11 Finals, Nickel earned the On3 superlative for ‘best mechanics.’
“Luke Nickel displayed sound mechanics from the ground up at the Elite 11 Finals. The Miami pledge has a traditional high release point and did an excellent job getting the ball up and out throughout the week. He was also very natural and smooth in his drops, showing good coordination and functional mobility when operating from within structure.
We rarely saw Nickel out of sorts at the Elite 11 Finals, in large part due to his rock-solid mechanical foundation.” — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
