Hillside (N.J.) St. Peters Prep safety Jayden Bonsu is down to five schools, he announced Saturday afternoon on Twitter.

Bonsu is the No. 279 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 26 safety and the No. 3 player in the state of New Jersey.

His final five includes: Alabama, Miami, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder will announce his decision on August 20.

On3 is significantly higher on Bonsu than other major recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. In the most recent On300 rankings, he was tabbed as the country’s No. 144 prospect, No. 12 safety and No. 2 senior in the Garden State.

The Buckeyes, which recently hosted Bonsu for an official visit, are considered the leaders to land him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). It currently gives Ohio State an 86.4 percent chance of securing his commitment.

As a junior last fall, Jayden Bonsu made 62 tackles, including 7.5 for loss, in 12 games. He also had 2.5 sacks and intercepted two passes.
